Will you be our manager? I hope it's something that you'd like to do Will you help us to find shows and play something good? And if you want you can take 10% of the profits Okay, maybe 15 I hope that you won't mind If we occasionally fuck up You know that it's hard to find Somebody that never fucks up And hopefully you even find it a little bit endearing Listen: mistake after mistake but hey! The crowd's still cheering Today was the very first time I didn't drink a beer When we came to this little room to play these songs that we have here And to be very honest with you I think I'm feeling pretty good And you know that we can get kinda loud if we want to I hope that's an asset and not a curse

Ask the crystal professor Which one he likes better The blue or the green And if he tells you Which one to go for Make sure you pick the opposite 'cause there's nothing more valuable Than someone that you know is wrong all the time Keep the crystal, professor You've earned it Your wisdom has set me atop my parapet Thanks, Profess' For saying Yes And letting me know No We love you Professor You're so valuable But I wonder what it feels like to have all these people come to your tent in the forest and ask you questions such as these Knowing full well You're a fool with a well I wonder does it hurt? Or do you appreciate your gift Without necessarily knowing what it is? I hope that you do 'cause you deserve every edge of love that you get Deserve our undying respect Professor Crystal The crystal professor I love you

I know what your name is I know know when you come to town I've seen what's in your briefcase At the train station I slipped something inside A tracking device And so don't worry I'm going to find you You're in the bad part of town, you know Is that where you go to be discrete? I've seen you wash your feet with the beggars Is that where you go to get pleasure? But don't worry I won't tell your wife I won't tell your wife about your other life the one you wish you could live every day I won't tell your wife about your secret life The one that you keep on pushing away But there's a price that you have to pay Just a tiny tattoo of my name You can choose the place You can even choose the day But over what it says I'm afraid you don't have a nay You don't have a say baby It has to be my name And what's my name you ask With trepidation in your eye You hope it's not a long one You hope that it's something that'll fit behind your knee My name is Me

The Break In 05:45
Who's that around the corner? He doesn't have a face but he's got a name Everybody does It doesn't seem very obvious what his motivations are What are they? And that's scary you know When you can't tell someone what to do What was that noise? It wasn't me And it wasn't you And if it wasn't either of us Was it a what or a who? Someone broke into the house last night They hid in the living room While we were sleeping they went to the kitchen to get knives We don't deserve it but it's happening to I'm more upset than you When the knife cut us in two The blade went down the middle of our bed and the room filled with red Once we were living, now we're dead There's nothing more to this life It's like a cage that's been emptied

I used to think I was nothing without a green goblin to drink Thought it would loosen my spirit Turns out my spirit was already loose enough I didn't need that stuff To get somewhere nice If you really want to know If you really wanna know The only thing that I'd throw away is that vice Life is a straight line It curves from time to time Just as the chords in this song Often right but sometimes wrong And if you diverge from a path you know you're supposed to be on Doesn't take that long to get back It helps if you know where you went off Consult the map Helps if you have a couple people on the sidelines It's a real big help if you've got somebody there by your side to remind you Life used to be good Life is still good Call me Robin Hood 'cause I take gold Let's stop before we all get too old to know what we're saying To forget everything that we used to believe in and if you want we can go to a place I used to go when I was young They shuttered it but you can still get in the back Don't bring those green goblins along

Time 05:43
Trust the ring The plastic one from Woolworths you bought when you were nine Back when time was just a distant cousin of your friend who you met at a wedding that will never see again and you think you can masturbate to the memory of them But you discovered it's not when you saw the spots And not like the ones that embarrassed you when you used to go to school a new day a new face no one new for you to play with These are spots on your character These are spots that remind you of the people that you used to meet and you used to drag your feet when you would go to the pub with them you wouldn't want to make a friend Now time's mocking you and that's what it's supposed to do, fuckhead Remember at school That one naughty kid who used to break all the rules That is your best friend now And the closer you get to him Remember Don't forget to remember Please remember don't forget Time to lie down Time to do something nice for yourself like clean your apartment Go for a walk or do something with friends that you knew when you were at school Friends who used to break all the rules

Wishing Well 04:05
Toast in the afternoon Wishing well in your kitchen says Are you gonna leave the house today like you said? Shut up wishing well Just trying to eat It's hard to feed myself well You know I've got that stomach thing You know I can't bring myself to go to the doctor I'm afraid of what he'll find in my cavity So I'll sit here with my toast and tea Oh wishing well I wish you wouldn't speak to me And it's very kind of you And I know you mean well But it's about time to tell you I'm moving out I'm moving house And wishing well Well well well I wish you well I wish you well And I hope the next one who lives here Will listen to you

Isabella 05:06
Go back every day and say You were right You were right I should never have thrown that fight At the end of the bar There's Skip He sold me my car He sold me my car and I'm grateful to him He gave me a very good price He knows times are tight The bartender's called Ricky Slim I don't like him He's got the stingiest pour in town and he sure knows how to sink 'em down But his wife is Isabella Isabella Oh Isabella I never should have thrown that fight I was wrong, you were right Isabella The other patrons are kinda boring but There's a guy I just keep returning to His name's Fishy Blue He works down at the docks He keeps his money in his tube sock He tries to hide it but the move is so obvious And he's so full of stories Feel less lonely when I'm talking to him Less lonely when we're together We're not friends but we're not enemies We're something else altogether He's not exciting but he's not boring so He's the closest thing I have to a brother I know that's sad but Listen to me man I come here every day just to see her So you gotta find the small gifts Oh Isabella Leave that fella Come away with me I never should have thrown that fight I was wrong and you were right Leave Ricky Slim Don't you know he doesn't love you Don't you know he sees other girls on the sly He's got the devil in his eye Don't you know he's looking all around Every day I see him down by the bus stop with a wink in his pocket and a little tip for good luck Isabella You were right and I was wrong I should never have thrown that fight It was the worst decision of my life And I only made 500 bucks and I spent it on that car

Red sky at night Shepherds' delight Red sky in the morning is a shepherd's warning and if you are a shepherd these days You'll take all the help you can get It's lonely out there on the hills Without anyone to talk to The friends of the trees are unfortunately my enemies Nobody believes me But I swear a great big eagle came up and took one of my sheep away Man, nature is evil Nature is something else Nature is like the devil And that's not all There's an old man that just stares at me He lives on his own in a shed He's got 1 eye and about 3 teeth Man he gives me the creeps Sometimes I think that he is evil too Man nature is evil Don't believe me? Ask the eagles Man nature is evil The sky is like blood and the sea is full of Fish people Man nature is evil Don't believe me? Just ask a few people

I once knew a guy In fact I knew several guys Who said they would do me a solid That solid involved Driving us around Making us perform in front of strangers who were bored Some of them lied In fact all of them lied But one of them tried Yeah one of them really tried for us He thought that our music should be played on the bus Anyway Some of them will gyp you Some of them will rip you Some of them will chip in for everything Some of them just wanna use you as an excuse for a party I find a helpful thing to do is ask them if they like the Rolling Stones If they say yes and go on about it for 10 minutes Get the hell out of there If you want to be in famous rock band You better know what you like Don't strike at the first iron that gets hot hot in your hand There'll be many others And if your lucky they won't be a man who will take you for granted and try and see you as his own thing see you as a little pet he can take out and rent

Clown 05:18
Happy Look at the wig I'm happy I've finally forgiven them for firing me when I was most depressed Now I wear my favourite wig I go to every gig in town dressed up as a clown The others laugh at me But now that's what they ask of me To make 'em laugh Make 'em smile Make 'em feel good for a while Make 'em see that the day is just like the night Make 'em laugh Make 'em smile Make 'em forget for a while that this life is happening This life just won't stop happening This big blue marble we call Earth just keeps on spinning My big rubber shoes go squeak squeak squeak in the mosh pit Squeak squeak squeak And my little red nose says *Tig Notaro horn sound* Even the band after the show comes up and gives me a wink I know what they think They're glad to see the clown Glad to see someone trying for a change They like it even though it's strange to be given a smile To be given a laugh To be made to forget the world is half and half Oh it's half good, it's half bad It's half happy and half sad It's half depression and it's half expression of love
